At one time, if you had liposuction then you were attacked on all sides, from all possible angle: the newspapers made sure to run photos of how you looked before, reminding everyone of something you were trying very hard to forget, and health ministers from every country declared you a terrible example. And this is saying nothing about the horror stories which terrified the general public. With many of the legislative rules and regulations completely in flux during this changing time, there were very few ways to make sure that someone was who they said they were.
